On Jan. 26, Michael Mulholland received the Gold Medal for Artistic Excellence at the 5th annual Park City Film Music Festival for his musical score and end credits song for the short film Reflections.

The Park City Film Music Festival takes place in Park City, Utah and runs concurrently with the world famous Sundance Film Festival. This is the only film festival in the world singularly recognizing the contribution of composers and their music to film, and the first of such festivals in the Americas . Awards are given in the categories of Best Use of Music in Full-Length Feature Film, Best Use of Music in Documentary Film, and Best Use of Music in Short Film. The first major film festival to recognize film music as part of the awards lineup since 1985 is the Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent , which currently draws over 80,000 devotees.

Film music, whose broad appeal continues to gain prominence in the music marketplace, has stood for a long time recognized only at the very highest levels: the Academy awards, the Emmys, the Grammys, and a few others. The growing stature of film music is exemplified in the announcement in 2005 of the Pulitzer prizes qualifying film music for the first time after over 60 years.

The pcFMF burst on the scene in 2004 and is the brainchild of Ms. Leslie Harlow who has been operating the Park City International Music Festival for over 23 years. A Juilliard graduate, she and her husband, festival director Russell Harlow, a member of the Utah Symphony, are both prominent classical artists. This year's festival featured 102 films, 66 of which were short films.

Safehouse Films was formed in 1997 by Barry Caldwell, Kathleen Diehl and Lynn Loschin to write and develop feature films. Our focus has since shifted into becoming a full-fledged production unit, with the goal of seeing each project through from inception to final cut.  Like everyone else in the business under the age of 40, we were inspired by Star Wars and the seemingly endless possibilities afforded to storytellers in the modern age, if you use the technology and don't let it use you. We also draw inspiration from the recent slate of films that were made for little or no money but went on to great success, which proves a huge budget isn't necessary to tell a good story.  Safehouse Films' most recent production, Night's Necromantic Rose, was a 35mm short produced for director Brian Nohr.  It premiered at the Dances With Films festival in Santa Monica and was an official selection at the Tiburon and Big Bear Lake Film Festivals in California and the Leprecon Film Festival in Phoenix , Arizona Other projects currently in development at Safehouse Films include a short film based on Dorothy Parker's The Game and the psychological espionage thriller Lazarus Girl.  They also have over a dozen feature scripts in development, ranging from horror to sexual politics to straight thrillers.
